Mars aspects the Moon, August 12th and 13th as well as August 19th through August 22nd, This can be associated with more pitta intensity in one's emotions.
On August 17th and 18th, Saturn aspects the position of the Moon. This can make the mind a little more anxious or prone to worry. This position could also make for tendency of insomnia. The same situation applies starting August 29th till the end of the month when Saturn and Moon will be conjunct.

The Sun enters Leo constellation starting 2:16 pm on August 16th. Leo is the Sun's own constellation and this means that there will be greater strength or courage to help society. It is a time of greater Self-confidence. Saturn is also present in Leo till September 2009 so it will interact with the Sun to create a feeling of responsibility in the souls of leadership as well as individually. It can also bring up issues related to authority and Father. Mercury and Venus will stay in Leo as well until the 25th and 26th of August. this means that there is emphasis on communication and role of women as related to leadership and government. Venus and Mercury together indicates desire to communicate with harmony and grace.
Mercury will enter Virgo constellation from Leo constellation starting on August 25th which favors intellectual activity of problem solving. This is a very powerful place for clearer thinking and use of logic to come up with solutions.
Mars will be in Virgo constellation starting the 10th of August. When Mercury and Venus enter Virgo on the 25th and 26th of August they will interact with Mars creating a feeling of passion. Since Venus is subdued in the intellectual Mercurial constellation of Virgo, when Venus and Mars conjunct it is important not to let passion overcome common sense. Also it is important not to let jealousy overcome one's relationships. This combination of Mars and Venus in Virgo can make relationships a bit more intense and difficult so be easy on your partner and wait out the time till things smooth out. One famous personality who had this combination by birth was Bill Clinton, and his challenges in relationships are a matter of history.
Saturn and Jupiter will continue all month staying in same constellations as last month: Leo and Sagittarius. Jupiter will continue being in the strongest position in 12 years, but at the same time will be retrograde all month --- which can make economics (e.g. stock market) feel as if not moving forward as much, and for people ruled by Jupiter's energy (e.g. Sagittarians) feel as if they are in limbo a bit.
Starting Sep. 7th the positive energy of Jupiter will move forward again, and economics and enthusiasm and general good luck should increase. Jupiter will be in this positive situation until the end of the year.
Saturn's position in Leo, sign of leadership will continue transforming politics and governments. Saturn being an influence of purity simplicity and honesty will help reveal any tendencies in government which are less than Dharmic.
Jupiter in its own constellation of Sagittarius, the sign of dharma, will also continue blessing the planet with wisdom and right tendencies.
Rahu and Ketu are presently in Capricorn and Cancer constellations respectively. Rahu in Capricorn creates an influence of non-traditional ways of doing things. This means that perhaps new solutions to old situations will be emphasized. Ketu in Cancer creates a more spiritual inward influence in one's emotions. It also may bring a quality of more witnessing and less attachment to one's consciousness---which may be useful in being more objective and seeing things clearer.
Until the 26th of August, Venus is going to be in Cancer constellation with Ketu which may lead to a more emotional inward bent to the senses and less attachment in relationships. This tendency will be more apparent for people who have dominant Venus in their lives---either by rising sign (e.g. Taurus or Libra) or by placement in their charts.

The
Birth of Vishnu's Horse Avatar Hayagriva is on August 16th. This horse headed Avatar was said to give the knowledge of Enlightenment to Sage Agastya by revealing the 1000 names of Lalita (Mother Divine Parvati---Wife of Shiva). Honoring Hayagriva by singing a section of Lalita Trishati (300 names of Mother Divine describing the conversation of Agastya and Hayagriva, or else singing the 1000 names of Lalita during such time is auspicious. This is also a time when all of you horse lovers can honor your favorite horse --- and give him/her some extra tender care!
This month will be the special occasion of Krishna's.
Lord Krishna was born with Moon Star in Rohini and on the 8th Tithi (Lunar Day). In the USA this falls on the 23rd of August this year. (India celebrates this same time but because of time zone differences it falls on August 24th in India).
Krishna was the Vishnu Avatar who represents pure Love and Devotion, and was king of the Lunar race (Lord Ram represents the Solar Kings as Lord Krishna represents the Lunar Kings). Celebrating His birth means celebrating the fullness of Love and Dharma.
