The gatherings are small and friendly and each person is encouraged to participate as they like. LUNAR OBSERVANCES

(For all Lunar Observances, please bring a fruit or flower. Donations are appreciated)

Wednesday, July 2, 7-9 pm. New Moon Fire Puja and Shiva Abhishek. The darkness of the new moon is an ideal time to create a protective influence and germinate new projects. The New Moon energy is presided over by Lord Shiva.

The Abhishek or ritual bathing of the Shiva Lingam is most powerfully done at New Moon and creates an influence of purification and clarity.

Friday, July 18, 7-10 pm. Guru Purnima, celebrating the Day of the Guru. See Celebrations below. Named the Full Buck Moon, when the new antlers of buck deer push out from their foreheads in coatings of velvety fur, it was also often called the Full Thunder Moon (thunderstorms being now most frequent), and is sometimes called the Full Hay Moon.

Friday, August 1, 7-9 pm. New Moon Fire Puja and Shiva Abhishek (see June 4 New Moon for description).

Saturday, August 16, 7-9 pm. Full Moon Puja. Called the Full Sturgeon Moon, when this large fish of the Great Lakes and other major bodies of water like Lake Champlain is most readily caught. A few tribes knew it as the Full Red Moon because the moon rises looking reddish through sultry haze, or the Green Corn Moon or Grain Moon.

Saturday. August 30, 7-9 pm. New Moon Fire Puja and Shiva Abhishek When two new moons occur in a month, the second is called a 'dark moon.' The new moon is also sometimes called the dark moon - at this phase there is no illumination on the earth's side. There will be an Abhishek or ritual bathing of the Shiva Lingam.

 SEMINARS & SPECIAL EVENTS

Saturday, July 26, 10 am - 4 pm. Pancha Mama Workshop, Awakening the Dreamer and Changing the Dream. Cancelled.

Saturday, August 9, 10 am – 4 pm. Red Lotus Initiation. Throughout the ages, different cultures and wisdom traditions have honored women’s menses as a powerful and sacred process. In this gathering, we will explore how these ancient traditions celebrated menses through stories, music and art. We will learn well-kept secrets from the yogic and ayurvedic traditions on how to use the menses cycle to manifest desires, enhance health and foster longevity and love. This gathering is for women ages 18 and up or younger if accompanied by a parent or guardian. Each participant will take home a workbook and art project.

The Initiation is presented by Dr. Suzanne Keating who does public consultations and has a private psychotherapy practice. Dr. Keating has worked to bring light on women’s issues for the past 30 years. She is joined by Nafeeah Kim, director of Shiva Mandir. Cost: Working adults, $108; Retired or fixed income, $75; Student, $54. Registration and payment required by Friday, August 1st. Mail payment to Shiva Mandir at 1391 S. Pennsylvania St., Denver, CO 80210. Contact Shiva Mandir at 303-722-3658 or shivamandir@gmail.com.

ANCIENT KNOWLEDGE FOR A MILLENIUM

The following presentations are to acquaint the Western mind with the roots of Vedic and Yogic teaching. For those wishing to explore this tradition, we will cover precepts of general interest. These topics will form a foundation of understanding for the new student of Sri Kaleshwar. Classes are taught by Sandra Clark, Channing Johnson and Nafeeah Kim, registered teachers for Sri Kaleshwar.

(Please bring a fruit or flower to these events. Suggested donation, $18. Any amount appreciated.)

Wednesday, July 30, 7-9 pm. Divine Lineage and Vedic Concepts of God. We will look at the pantheon of Divine Vedic Beings and how they relate to our own inner experiences and psychological states. We will talk about spiritual lineages and how to know if you have found your personal guru.

Saturday, August 23, 1-4 pm. Divine Energy Systems. We will examine what is meant by divine energy, how miracles happen, how to do deep soul purification and “washing out” blocks to our spiritual progress. We will explore the phenomenon of illusions and divine lilas (sport or tricks played on spiritual aspirants for their ultimate evolution),
